Modern Foreign Languages
Modern Foreign Languages
BIENVENUE!
Intent
At Stubbins Primary School we aim to introduce children to another language in a way which is enjoyable and fun. We want children to foster an interest in learning new languages, stimulate and encourage children’s curiosity about language helping them to also develop an awareness of cultural differences in other countries. We want to develop children’s speaking and listening skills extending their language learning beyond that of their mother tongue.
Implementation
The children will be taught French throughout KS2 using the Lightbulb Languages resource; children will speak to each other in French, play games and sing songs to help them to learn a new language. In EYFS and KS1, children will be introduced to new languages and may answer the register in different languages or learn elements of different languages through the units they are taught in various curriculum areas.
Impact
The children at Stubbins Primary School will be excited by language and will be keen to learn more. The children will have a record of their learning in their books which will move with them throughout KS2. Teachers will assess the children’s learning as they move throughout KS2. Children will be able to talk about their learning and share what they have learned with staff.
